My live interview (in Italian) at the TRC TV on megaflood predictability

On November 27 I have been live interviewed by the TV channel TRC. The discussion focused on predictability of megafloods, after the publication of the Nature Geoscience paper  "Megafloods in Europe can be anticipated from observations in hydrologically similar catchments", authored by Miriam Bertola with a large pool of co-authors.

The interview can be watched here. The video has been kindly provided by TRC Bologna.

Tutorials of Harbour Engineering - 2021

The course on Harbour Engineering focuses on design of harbors and coast management. The part of course that I am teaching counts 32 hours of lectures. The teacher will make extensive use of interactivity, with the options illustrated below. Lectures include about 6 hours dedicated to solving exercises by using the personal computer, by collaborative work by students and teacher. Students will be kindly asked to bring their own personal computer to solve the exercises. Students are kindly advised to speak with me if bringing their own personal computer turns out to be not possible.

Tutorials of Science of Climate Change and Climate Actions 2021

"Science of Climate Change and Climate Actions" is a new soft skill course at the University of Bologna. It will be taught in English for a total of 24 hours (3 credits) in the second semester, by me and other expert colleagues from other Departments. Details are given here. Access is given to a maximum number of 200 students. The study plan is as follows:

Tutorials of Mountain Rivers Training (Costruzioni Idrauliche M - 2020-2021 - in Italian)

Web site providing information, tutorials and videos for the master degree course on Mountain Rivers Training. The web page is in Italian.

Questa pagina internet mette a disposizione degli studenti le informazioni ed il materiale di supporto per l'insegnamento (1 modulo, 6 crediti formativi universitari) di Costruzioni Idrauliche M indirizzato agli studenti dell'Università di Bologna.

Tutorials of Sustainable Design of Water Resources Systems - 2020

Sustainable Design of Water Resources System is concentrating on the management of water resources in the presence of increasing anthropogenic pressure and climate change. The course will be taught during 48 hours of frontal teaching, including lectures given by the teacher and exercises developed by collaborative work by students and the teacher.

Tutorials of Mountain Rivers Training (Costruzioni Idrauliche M - 2019-2020 - in Italian)

My presentation at the meeting "Water that will be. Climate change: new challenges and solutions for water supply"

At the link below my presentation at the meeting "Water that will be. Climate change: new challenges and solutions for water supply", held in Bologna on December 14th 2021, can be downloaded. The title is: "Climate change and water: New Scenarios, New engineering, New solutions" (in Italian).
The video of my contribution is available here (from time 33'28").
TV reports on the event are available below (in Italian):

1st Workshop on "Novel hydrological concepts for the engineering practice", Bologna, September 29, 2021

The Workshop "Novel hydrological concepts for the engineering practice" has taken place in Bologna on September 29, 2021. It has been organised to celebrate the degree Honoris Causa in Environmental Engineering that has been awarded by the University of Bologna to Günter Blöschl. The emergency due to COVID19 imposed a severe restriction to the number of attendants and therefore the audience was not large.

The Bluecat Home Page

Bluecat is a new method that Demetris Koutsoyiannis and myself recently proposed to estimate uncertainty of hydrological predictions. Bluecat comes with an open source and user friendly software to support its application. The original idea was elaborated by Demetris during his stay in Bologna in 2019. Formalisation of the method and software preparation were as all of my working hours from February 2020 to May 2021 were absorbed by the management of the COVID19 emergency in the academia.
